(SR1) Next medium format rumor by CineMartin

alpa100MP

Alpa camera with the new IQ3 100MP System with Sony sensor

SAR readers sent me a link to a “rumor” from CineMartin. They claim they got an info via a Sony Japan contact that a medium format camera will be announced at IBC 2016:

Sony working to release new 65mm DSLR style camera to compete with Hasselblad. Email received from Sony Japan source. New Sony camera will provide 120MP photos, video at 4K 60p and +15 stops of dynamic range. Sensor to have a size of 51.10 mm x 27.11 mm. CMOS. To be announced at IBC 2016. Price to be in the range..

I found that rumor very unlikely to become true…

(SR4) 70-200mm GM price confirmed ot be around 3.000 Euro

FE70-200mmGM

I have been told the price listed by Kamerahuset.dk is the right one. The Danish Krone price equals to around 3.000 Euro (or $3350). Of course you have to expect the real Euro or Dollar price to be slightly different due the different tax system. Interesting details of the Kamerahuset image on top: It uses one of the new FE teleconverters (the 2.x).

70-200mm GM lens is listed with no preorders option at Amazon US, BHphoto, BestBuy, Digitalrev.
Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter at BHphoto.
Sony FE 2.0x Teleconverter BHphoto.

Sony will soon announce a new action camera

This is not an Alpha related news but it may be interesting for some of our readers: A source just sent me this:

Also a successor to the market leading FDR-X1000V will be introduced by appropriate partners and into the market. It will feature improved image quality and video resolution and frame rate.
From what I gathered this can mean the IMX318 Sensor will be used:

(SR5) Zeiss source says they will not make a Batis 35mm lens

I got this info from a Zeiss solid source (Thanks B!).

Zeiss has no plan to make a Batis 35mm lens because there are already several primes and zooms covering that focal length.

I want to remind SAR readers that we got solid rumors that Zeiss will announce new Batis lens(-es) in autumn. I guess telephoto primes or even zooms(!) could be the next lenses

This is what SAR readers would like to get from Zeiss:

The very next Batis lens should be the...

(SR1) Low ranked Sony A99II rumors…

sony-a99

There is still no reliable info about new A-mount stuff. All we know for sure is that Sony “promised” to keep developing A-mount products. So let’s hope we will soon see real new A-mount cameras and lenses. In the meantime these are two low ranked A99II rumors. Let’s see if there is some truth behind those:

AD:I’ve seen the A99II at my work place database (large retail chain). It should be announced soon because it’s listed as being available summer 2016. The prilimanary info indicates that does 10fps, has 36mp sensor, 4K and is a SLT. The price tag seems steep. $2999.99 USD.

O:The news I’m getting about the new mystery camera is that it is a specialized version of the A99. Let’s call it A99SW: optimized for sports and wildlife shooters. No exact specs leaked but broad items are… No video, optimized for photography only! Fastest AF of any SLT, faster than A77ii! Fastest object tracking of any SLT! New BIONZ processor; BSI; wider dynamic range should result in better low light performance than A99. That’s it so far. Let’s see if your readers would jump on this bad boy!

TechArt Pro Review by Doug Kaye

[shoplink 48022 ebay]Leica M-mount to Sony E-mount Adaptor[/shoplink]

The following review is a guest post from Doug Kaye. To write a guest post follow the instructions on that page. Thanks!

———————-
This post is ostensibly a review of the TechArt Pro Leica M-mount to Sony E-mount lens adaptor, but I’ll start with a bit of the story as to how I came to be interested in such a device.

During the first year of All About the Gear I reviewed the Leica M 240 camera. I was particularly impressed with those expensive Leica lenses we’ve all heard so much about. I was less impressed with the $7,000+ camera body, which I swore I’d never buy. But those lenses! Sharp, contrasty, small, light…gorgeous.
