New QX accessories for tablets and new QX cameras coming soon.

The QX series may have nothing to do with out Alpha Cameras but few of us would have bet on the future of the concept. Well, as reported here oN SAR the QX sales are very strong and Sony will keep developing the idea further. The image on top has been leaked at Xperia Blog and shows the new SPA-TA1 tablet attachment. And new QX cameras (and firmware update for current QX owners) should come too!

It may be that one day Sony will sell more of these kind of camera than our “old” DSLR/Mirrorless cameras ? We will see…

(SR4) A77 successor price set at 1.200 Euro.

Small update about the A77 successor. The camera will sell in JUne for 1.200 Euro body only. And as I told you before there will be no A65 successor. This is likely the only ASP-C A-mount camera coming in 2014.

Still no time table for the Full Frame A-mount. Althaugh Sony already said they will launch a 4K FF camera soon (likely at the NAB show in April).

(SR5) NEX-6/7 successor to cost 800 Euro. Shipping in April.

In early February Sony will announce the new High End APS-C E-mount camera. This one camera will replace both, the [shoplink 14167 ebay]NEX-6[/shoplink] and shoplink 8454 ebay]NEX-7[/shoplink] models. I have been told the camera body only costs around 800 Euro. The camera is said to have a much faster AF, faster imaging processor and improved Image Quality and EVF. It will be in Stock for April.

The cameras coming after it are the A-mount cameras (April?). What I am still not sure about are the releases of new RX FF and Full Frame E-mount cameras. I got info about these two cameras but I am trying to check when this stuff will be announced.

Hasselblad and Sony. The beginnning of a new medium format strategy. (Poll: Would you buy a low end medium format camera?).

So, the rumors we posted were right and Sony is indeed entering the medium format world by producing CMOS sensor for Hasselblad. Obviously, the soon to be announced H5D-50C is expected to cost $1000 per million pixel which means…about $50,000 just like the model it replaces, the H5D-50 model (here at BHphoto).

But as I have been told by my Hasselblad sources there are other very interesting aspects to know:

1) Hasselblad and Sony are working on quite revolutionary new sensor tech that will fit in future medium format sensors. And some of this tech will spread to the lower “Full Frame” sensor market. (This comes via one of my good sources).

2) It has been not decided yet but it’s a possibility: Hasselblad and Sony could also launch “cheap” medium format cameras to seriously compete in Nikon’s and Canon’s High End Full Frame market. Pentax already did this with the [shoplink 24095 ebay]Pentax 645D (around $6000 or 6000 Euro here one Bay)[/shoplink].

Point 1) is almost certain to happen while 2) is just speculation. But I am curious to see how many of you would be interested to get this:

Do you feel Sony has to make a sort of EOS-R5 8K camera too?

First picture of the Hasselblad Solar A-mount camera!

Well, it’s really a Hasselblad day today! What you see on the picture on top is the Hasselblad Solar. It’s a new A-mount camera based on the current Sony A99.  And I have to say the camera looks better than the previous released sketch (posted here on bottom).

There is no info about the price and release of the camera yet. But it doesn’t look as fancy or exaggerated luxurious as the [shoplink 22672 ebay]Hasselblad Lunar (Click here)[/shoplink] or [shoplink 22673 ebay]Hasselblad Stellar[/shoplink]. This may be the first time Hasselblad makes a really interesting variation of a Sony camera?

Sony UK confirms new mirrorless camera is coming!

I repeated many times that soon Sony will announce the NEX-6/7 successor. And now Sony UK confirmed at Photographyblog that there will be “new compact system camera models at both the CP+ show and Photokina later in the year“. As you know the big CP+ photoshow in Yokohama starts on February 13. Along that Sony UK also said that they will launch a new “ultra-zoom bridge camera” with a “faster processor than previous generations“.  And this is going to surprise some readers here: Sony UK said they sold out the QX10 and they also have strong sales on the QX100. And that’s why a second generation is definitely coming. Stay tuned on SAR. I am pretty sure early camera specs or even images will leak out soon…

(SR4) Sony A77 successor to ship in June! No A65 successor coming.

I reported previously the A77 successor would come in Spring. According to one trusted source the new APS-C A-mount camera will be in Stock in worldwide store for June. It will be the official replacement for the A77. And another news is that there will be no A65 successor. So expected one APS-C A-mount camera only.

I also have been told that this isn’t a small upgraded camera. There are some brand new tech inside. Hope to get 99% reliable specs info as soon as possible. I have been told Sony developed a couple of different prototypes and they are trying to hide what the final specs will be.

I am still not sure when the camera will be announced but my guess is for April. Before that we will have a new NEX-7 successor announcement (likely in 2-3 weeks from now).

Oh, one more thing: I didn’t get an official release period for the A-mount FF yet. But it’s coming don’t worry :)
