On Friday (May 31) Panasonic will officially announce the new S1H Cine L-mount camera. This is the first direct Sony A7sII competitor. And the new Sony A7sIII which is rumored to be announced this autumn will have to at least match if not beat those specs leaked right now by L-rumors.com:

New Full Frame sensors
Records 6K24p and 4k60p
Records 10bit 4:2:2 internal at 30p and external 60p
14 stops Dynamic Range
Cinematography dream gear
It’s built like a tank.
Slightly bigger than the S1-S1R for better heat dissipation

lot more epxensive than the S1R

My feeling is that the Sony A7sIII will be much better than this new S1H!

Yongnuo posted this image of their new 85mm f/1.8 FE lens. They write the lens weights is about 400g and will be available in June!

The lens will be priced around $100 just like these lenses.

I just learned that Sony will have a new E-mount product announcement around June 5-6.

I am working to get some info about WHAT is coming. But I have been told no A9II and A7sIII will be announced on that event. The A9II and A7sIII are both expected to be announced in late 2019.
Just to be clear: I am not sure there will be a camera at all…there might be new lenses “only”.

The Sony A7sII is three and a half-year old. Still Sony felt no pressure to update it so far. Neither Canon nor Nikon managed to release a competitor to this camera. But on May 31 the Sony solo ride will have an end.

It’s rumored that Panasonic will launch a new Cine oriented Panasonic S L-mount camera. I have no specs of this new camera but Panasonic is certainly capable of making a high quality video camera.

The new Sony A7sIII is rumored to be on market this autumn. If the Panasonic S is a good camera for a good value this might forces Sony to price it accordingly. At the end competition is good for us Sony folks too :)

On May 31 at around 8pm New York Time Sony will have a press conference. But as far as I have heard this is for High-level Cine gear only. Don’t think they mean the A7sIII with that. I guess it’s  related to their VENICE camcorder. Don’t know yet if they will bring some new updated or announce some new Cine Gear too.
