Oh man this is going to be super exciting the next weeks! Today Sony registered the next camera code! Now we have a total of three cameras and one lens that will be announced soon (within 1-2 months):

• Camera with code “WW716189” (we suspect this to be the A9II)
• Camera with code “WW246025 (cybershot)
• Camera with code “WW594724” (probably another E-mount camera)
• Sony 35mm f/1.8 F lens

Two camera codes have been already officially registered by Sony

Nokishita writes:

Sony have just created a new product page for six interchangeable lens cameras (two of which are probably accessories pages) and one Cyber-shot.
It is important to note that there are many cases in which the existing product page is renewed when simply adding new firmware functions. New products will be released within about half a year.

So if two pages are for accessories we have four new E-mount pages. But we now that at least one major firmware update will be released soon for the Sony A9. Which means at max we have “three slots” open.

A good guess is that Sony will announce 2-3 E-mount cameras in 2019 (Sony A9II, A7sIII and the third could be the A6500 successor) and a new Cybershot.

And here is the summary of what to expect in 2019 from Sony (all SR5):

• At least a new High end E-mount camera with the code “WW71619” (we suspect this to be the A9II)
• Another Cybershot model which could be the one registered with the code “WW246025
• One or Two more E-mount cameras in autumn which could be the A7sIII (very likely) and the A6500 successor (with EVF in the center)
• New Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE lens

There is a reliable source who gave me a lot of info about non-Sony gear. He recently met a Sony Guy in a very funny circumstance:

I also heard something from a very drunk Sony guy. He had seen a roadmap for products with some kind of sales forecast. One product (camera) was scheduled to launch this summer which Sony expects to sell a lot.

Now I am sure he is telling me the truth when he says he met the drunk guy…not so sure if the drunk Sony guy told the truth :)

But you know what they say…”In vino veritas”. So let’s assume that he did indeed tell the truth. If this is a camera that “Sony expects to sell a lot” it must be a model certainly more affordable than the A9II or A7sIII. So my guess is that the Drunk Sony guy was talking about the A6500 successor or A7rIV. What do you think?

What a superb week! We just got the Tamron 17-28mm FE, Sony will soon launch two new cameras and the 35mm f/1.8 F and now this massive news:

In mid July Sigma will have a major announcement: For the first time they will announce lenses designed specifically for the Sony Full Frame Mirrorless system. These are the lenses:

35mm f/1.2
45mm f/2.8
14-24mm f/2.8  (UPDATE: Previously I said it was a 12-24mm lens but we noe heard it’s likely to be 14-24mm)SA R
24-70mm f/2.8 (this lens will be available later after the release of the other three lenses)

What a day folks!  First we got 100% confirmation that Sony will soon announce the new 35mm f/1.8 FE lens. And now Sony registered a new camera model with the code “WW246025”.

This means we now have two new cameras and one lens that will be announced within 1-2 months:

• WW245025  (probably a new RX or Cybershot camera)
• WW716189 (High End E-mount camera with 5.8 GHXz WiFi which I believe could be the A9II)
• Sony 35mm f/1.8 FE lens (SEL35F18F).

Exciting time ahead!

And don’t forget in July Sigma will have a major announcement too with the new 35mm f/1.2 FE lens and something more… ;)

Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 versus the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 S via CameraSize.

Nokishita confirmed our rumor (posted last year) that Sony will soon launch a new 35mm f/1.8 FE lens!  There is no price and release info yet. But I guess the lens will be officially announced very soon!

UPDATE: This image that is going viral on the web is just a photoshopped images based on the current 50mm f/1.8 FE. But I guess the REAL lens will look very close to that :)

I am now 100% sure that the US price of the new Tamron 17-28mm FE lens will be $899. Shipment start in July. I believe the $899 is a very good price tag for that lens!

17-28mm FE preorders will open on June 27 at BHphoto, FocusCamera and Adorama.
