The new A9 is supposed to be a more “DSLR” alike sized camera (image above is a rendering)

About the source: This one comes from a very top source. It’s the same source that gave us the RX1rII specs months(!) ahead. So this is highly likely to be true!

The Bomb Sony A9 rumor: The source sent me this:

“The next generation flagship mirrorless camera from Sony will be a giant leap. It will drop a huge bomb in the imaging industry. It will not be A7III or A7RIII. It will be a new model above A7 series. I would say A9 (let’s name it as the new model). So the new A9 will have [shoplink 46602 ebay]dual XQD card slot[/shoplink], no CFast version, only XQD. A9 can do UNLIMITED RAW burst, UNLIMITED. The camera wont pause for buffering.”

Just recently Sony announced a new generation of [shoplink 46609 ebay]XQD cards (specs and prices)[/shoplink] which are now for sale bundled with the Nikon D5 (here on Amazon).

I repeat this one is a very top source. I hope he will send me some additional info soon like when will it be announced? What’s the sensor? Thanks :)

I got first hints about the next A7rII successor. The source said that Sony Japan managers said the

“a7Riii the new sensor will be between 70 – 80 Megapixels. They are working on improved IBIS as well. Although officially the new lenses per the 24-70 F2.8 GM and the others have been tested for QC at 60+ Megapixels and 6K+ Video they achieve even better results than that.“

Well sounds likely this could be the A7rIII (or A9)!

Well the fun is over guys! Hasselblad CEO just confirmed their Sony luxury clone cameras project is dead. There will be no more funny cameras like the one pictured above :)

Instead the new CEO Perry Oosting will redirect the company back to it’s original history. And he says “Without breaking the news embargo, I can say confidently that, in the case of one wholly new model in particular, photography fans will be over the moon.“

Hasselblad confirmed a couple of months ago they will strengthen the partnership with Sony. So it’s not impossible that the “new model” will feature the new Sony 100 Megapixel medium format sensor. The HDC-4300

Deon LeCointe, Product Manager at Sony Electronics confirmed:

“At NAB Show 2016, Sony will announce new models and updates to its full line of professional A/V technologies for HD and 4K production at all levels, ranging from camcorders, cameras, switchers and displays for sports, live production, events and more.”

Mr. LeCointe didn’t go into the details of the new products a part of that one:

“Sony will also debut their newest Ultra HFR camera, building on the success of the HDC-4300 and other popular studio camera systems. This new camera will offer up to 8x high frame rate in 4K and integrates well with the existing lineup.”
