(SR5) Trusted sources: No A7000 APS-C E-mount coming in 2014. Main focus on FE from now on!

Image on top shows the TriNavi from the NEX-7

I saw a couple of sites claiming the A6000 doesn’t replace the NEX-7 and that there may be a new A7000 APS-C model in future with TriNavi. I can confirm via trusted sources that this isn’t true. There will be no A7000 APS-C(!) E-mount camera in 2014. I repeat it, no APS-C A7000 with TriNavi in 2104.

I have been also told the focus now is on FE camera and lens releases. Particularly new FE lenses are needed to make the system grow. Hope that Sony will announce the next two FE lenses in late March-early April.

Top view of the A6000

I finally got the A6000 EVF and AF info:
– 1,400K dot EVF
– 179 phase detection points (on sensor)

I have been told the AF performance is impressive!

Further, the camera will be announced in a couple of hours at exactly 4am London time (that’s 5am in Berlin and 11pm in New York).

(SR5) UPDATED: First images of the A6000!

This is the first image of the A6000! The camera will be announced tomorrow around 4-5am London time and you can follow the announcement live here on SAR!

UPDATE: This is the top view of the new A6000!

It also looks like the sensor is Exmor and not ExmorR. Maybe the original message contained an error because the compact cameras actually use Exmor R sensors :)

Additionally we now know the 3 inch screen has 921,000 dots and is tiltable.

(SR5) Some more A6000 tidbits. Has Bionz X processor and “improved” RGB filter

I got some info from trusted sources about the A6000:

– 24,3 Megapixel Exmor-R sensor
– Improved RGB filter
– Hybrid focusing, contrast and phase detection (though phase detection pixels)
– Fastest AF of all E-mount cameras
– Bionz X processor with adaptive noise reduction, increased sharpness and diffraction reduction
– ISO 100 up to 25,600
– Price around 650 Euro for body only.
– Built-in EVF in the corner just like the NEX-6 (an anonymous non verified source said it has the same quality of the A7/A7r EVF).
– On the back similar controls as the current NEX-6
– Camera replaces both the NEX-6 and NEX-7 cameras

I also have been told there will be no real new E-mount lens. But as you know one more (bigger) announcement has to come in 4-6 weeks from now. So there is hope to see new E and FE lenses by than!

The A6000 announcement will be made on Wednesday (Feb 12) at 5-6 am London time.
