Zeiss will do more fast prime lenses for the NEX system?

There is an interesting although a bit “vague” news posted by Zeiss today (Click here): “Another highlight will be the presentation of a design study, with which Carl Zeiss will offer a sneak preview of a new family of autofocus lenses for mirrorless system cameras (CSC) that will most likely be available in mid-2013. Due to their performance and high speed, these new lenses will be ideal for deliberate photo composition, making them perfect for more sophisticated photographers as well. Carl Zeiss plans to initially offer fixed focal lengths in the wide angle and standard range as well as a macro.

They do not specify for which system! It’s my guess that these new Zeiss lenses will work like that two 19mm and 30mm Sigma lenses. They will have a “universal” design and a change in the mount only in order to fit on all different mirrorless system cameras. If it’s trues than this is good news! We need more high quality lenses like the Zeiss 24mm that is right now finally available in US (Click here at Amazon).

You have any lens on your wishlist that Zeiss should absolutely make?

Next image leak. Here is the NEX-VG30!

An anonymous source just sent us the links to those pictures form the upcoming NEX-VG30 (Thanks!). The camera looks pretty much close to the current [shoplink 13770 ebay]NEX-VG20[/shoplink]. The specs:  16MP Exmor APS-C sensor, BIONZ processor, 1080×1920 video recording at 24p/60p, 3″ LCD, XGA OLED EVF, available in November from $1,800.

P.S.: May the source can send us some A99 and NEX lens images too? :)

Sony-Fuji alliance on the viewfinder front (a 1:5000 contrast ratio for the OLED viewfinder)

As you know both the A99 and the NEX-6 will feature a new OLED 2,36k dot viewfinder. Photorumors (found via Fujirumors) reports that Fuji is going to announce a new X-E1 camera tomorrow that will feature exactly the same A99 and NEX-6 viewfinder! The viewfinder has an amazing 1:5000 contrast ratio. Sony is not only sharing their sensor technology to Nikon (speak the D800 for example) to Pentax (upcoming K-3) but also the viewfinder technology. Another step into the complete Sony world domination? :)

Anyway, this means that we have to follow tomorrows Fuji announcement to get an idea of the quality of the viewfinder. The X-E1 will cost almost exactly like the NEX-6 (a bit less than $1000).

Meantime the NEX-7 body price at Amazon remains $1199 (Click here) but it’s is getting lower on eBay. $1099 at [shoplink 13758 ebay]Arphoto[/shoplink] or $1.119,71 at [shoplink 13757 ebay]Bigvalue[/shoplink]

UPDATE: This may be the first A99 image samples???

After the National Photographer Michael Yamashita also another Photographer leaked some A99 images. Mr.Mao is a famous photographer working for Sony china. A few days ago he wrote on his blog that he was working with a new Sony DSLR camera in inner Mongolia. Today he published some photos of this trip on his blog (http://photo.renren.com/photo/231884747/album-814057315?curPage=1). The camera name on the EXIF data was deleted.

I can’t post the pictures from a private closed account on SAR. Please use that login to access the account:

After the login click here to see the picture of the photographer with the A99 camera? And the inner Mongolia pictures are here, here and here. If these are really images taken with the A99 you will see them removed within the next couple of hours.

UDPATE: Our reader Torode posted the three pictures here: http://imgur.com/a/O4IPF (Thanks!)

Reminder: The announcement of the A99 along the NEX-6, A and E-mount lenses is scheduled for September 12th! Stay tuned on SAR on that day! Subscribe the RSS feed and join the Facebook page to not miss any new rumor!

(SR5) Full VG900 Full Frame NEX camcorder specs! With Full Frame A-mount adapter!

Image on top: The current VG-20 (not the new VG900!).

As I told you a weeks ago for the first time we are going to see a new Full Frame E-mount camera! It is actually a camcorder, the NEX-VG900. According to top sources it will use the same Sony A99 24 megapixel sensor and current NEX lenses like the superb [shoplink 8450]Zeiss 24mm f/1.8[/shoplink] or [shoplink 8448]Sony 50mm f/1.8[/shoplink] will work in crop more (and you can take 16 Megapixel pictures with it). The new Zeiss E-mount lenses will cover the full Full Frame area. The CP.2 25/T2.1 and CZ.2 70/200/T2.9 E -> Click here to get again a new shock by reading the price :)

The camera itself records in 24p/50p (or 60p in USA) at 24Mbit/s (AVCHD). It has a Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Mic, a 3 inch 9k and 270 degree swivel touchscreen. An XGA electronic viewfinder. A manual control jog dial. A dual SD card slot, remote AVR/IR, mic jack and hdmi. The body looks like the current VG-20 camera (here on BHphoto). What changes is the sensor size :)

The price of the camera is around 3300 Dollars/Euro and includes(!) the new A-mount LA-EA3 Full Frame adapter!
While this camera may not be interesting for 99% of our readers the big news here is that:
1) It proves that a Full Frame NEX camera is possible :)
2) A Full Frame [shoplink 8454]Sony NEX-7[/shoplink] alike camera could really be announced in 2013 (as I have been told by sources)

A Full Frame NEX-9 could allow us to use [shoplink 13363 ebay]Leica M-mount lenses (here a list of them on eBay)[/shoplink] and [shoplink 13362 ebay]Canon FD lenses (here a list of them on eBay)[/shoplink] on it! Sony has yet no plan to make FF NEX lenses but I hope they will “feel” the pressure from you folks! And they may change their mind…

Reminder: The announcement of the A99 along the NEX-6, A and E-mount lenses is scheduled for September 12th! Stay tuned on SAR on that day! Subscribe the RSS feed and join the Facebook page to not miss any new rumor!

Sony A99 AF points explained at Mobile01.

Picture of the A77 has been used by Mobile01 to show you where the A99 pixels are.

The taiwan site Mobile01 (Translation here) explained how the 102 AF point system of the A99 works. As you know the A99 has a Dual Phase Detection system. There us a 39 point AF sensor that uses the reflected light from the Translucent mirror. And there is a 9×7 pixel phase detection system on the sensor itself. It’s the same 9×7 system used on the Sony NEX-5R. That makes a total of 102 AF points and eleven of them are cross point.
