Lucas Kurt posted that Sony A7rII autofocus test video with the [shoplink 38108 ebay]Canon 40mm STM lens[/shoplink].

And Patrick Murphy-Racey posted an Open Letter to Sports Shooters and Photojournalists about the Sony A7RII:

People considering buying a 5DS/R might be advised to think hard about the Sony A7RII as an alternative, especially when you consider that Sony makes the sensor in the 5DS anyways. The future is now and it’s going to cost you $3198. It might be time to surface the Nautilus

One more A7000 sensor news: Fuji will use it on the X-PRO2 too!

Share

Bildschirmfoto 2015-06-26 um 08.43.21

That’s really unexpected as I thought Fuji would keep using their X-Trans sensor. But Fujirumors now reports that the upcoming Fuji X-PRO 2 could use the same A7000 sensor! The X-PRO 2 camera release got delayed to 2016 and they speculate the reason behind this is the A7000 launch delay. Sony allows competitor to use some selected sensors six months only after the sensor gets officially used on a Sony camera.

Lens design comparison: Has the Batis 85mm lens been designed by Tamron?

Share

Tamron_Batis

on left the Zeiss Batis 85mm design and on right the Tamron lens design patent.

Earlier this week Zeiss released the full Batis 85mm lens design info (pdf here). And as you can see from the image comparison on top the internal element design seems to match the Tamron design patent (SAR article here). I guess there is a very good chance that Batis 85mm f/1.8 lens has been designed by Tamron.

Of course as long as the quality is “Zeiss-alike” this will not be a problem for us. So let’s see more of those new lenses:

Batis

The very first Batis unboxing report has been posted by 3DKraft (Click here):

The most appealing thing of the Batis 2/25 is the option to combine wide angle perspectives and playing with the depth-of-field at the same time. You will find some bokeh fringing at open aperture. It almost disappears already at f/2.8.

Both Batis lenses are now available for preorder in USA and Europe (UK/Germany)
Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 lens in US at Adorama, Bhphoto. In Eu at Amazon DE, WexUK. In Asia at Digitalrev.
Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2.0 lens at Adorama, Bhphoto. In EU at Amazon DE, WexUK. In Asia at Digitalrev.
In Europe and Asia the Loxias can be found in Stock via [shoplink 36456 ebay]eBay sellers (Click here)[/shoplink] and Digitalrev (Click here).
