Reminder: After updating, the message “The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth unit has malfunctioned.” appears.

I noticed that a couple of readers missed to notice and read this important note from Sony regarding the A1 2.01 firmware update. So I thought it’s best to highlight it to make sure you don’t waste time looking for a solution:

With the latest firmware, the following message will be displayed if a hardware error related to the network function is detected when the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth function is turned on. (Displayed only when a hardware problem is detected, not a software problem)
You can continue shooting by pressing OK, but you will not be able to use the network functions, so we recommend that you take the camera in for inspection as soon as possible.

Confirmed: Two new Sony Full Frame E-mount cameras coming in Q3, but no Sony A1II this year!

Share

In my previous post I told you about what to expect in May and June (read here if interested). I told you several times that Sony will announce a new full-frame camera only in the second half of the year. And now I have begun to receive the first rumors about it. So far what has been confirmed by reliable sources is this:

Between July and October we should get at least:

  • One new Alpha Full Frame camera
  • One new FX Full Frame camera

I also can confirm this:

  • The Alpha camera is not the Sony A1II. That camera is likely to be announced in early 2025 only.

Surprises:

  • But…..there is some unconfirmed rumors about additional models too! So there might be some additional surprises!

You will wonder, what are those new FX and Alpha FF cameras?
I might be soon able to tell you more about the FX camera while about the Alpha camera I still do not have a final confirmation. Could be the A7sIV…but that’s just my speculation for now. That’s all, I am not going to spill out unreliable rumors yet in the hope I can get more reliable info soon.

Topazlabs now launched a new website showing off the features of their AI apps

Share

Topaz recently released the brand new Photo Ai 3.0 (click here). Now it has also completely revamped its website so that you can get a better overview of all the features. Take a look at the presentation pages: Photo Ai, Video AI, GigaPixel AI.

One more related news: PetaPixel tested all most known upscalers and claims GigaPixel AI is the best:

Overall, I was most impressed with Gigapixel AI. The results for the low-resolution file are especially excellent, far surpassing my expectations. It produces excellent levels of detail with minimal (or no) additional artifacts, even when going beyond 2x. I also enjoyed the UI of Gigapixel AI more than the other programs. It was clean, modern, and simple to use with an ideal way of seeing the preview of the upscaled images.
