ePhotozine reviewed the new Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE lens and concludes:

With a high level of performance and a pleasing character, the Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE lens has plenty of potential to become a favourite. There are some parameters that may need some additional correction in software, not really an issue as the solutions are there. It is light and compact and generally just delivers the goods in a simple, discrete package. When used for street photography, it can be an advantage to use an unobtrusive lens.

There is some flare and there is no weather sealing, so these are a couple of disadvantages, but to be absolutely fair, the price tag is a very attractive one and generally, the Samyang AF 45mm f/1.8 FE lens is a delight to use. Highly recommended.

Everything is not perfect but the lens scores very well on all the main points : very good to excellent sharpness, very good color rendition, beautiful blurry background , good bokeh balls wide open, efficient AF, small/light/cheap on a full frame mirrorless

If you’re looking for an extremely small and extremely lightweight wide-aperture normal lens that is a piece of cake to tote around all day and won’t break your wallet, by all means take a closer look at this lens.

The new Sony 200-600mm G lens is now shipping out in the USA

SAR readers from the USA told me their 200-600mm G preorder shipped out yesterday at BHphoto. Still preorders were so high you can’t find the lens in Stock anywhere yet.

(SR4) Sony will launch TWO new APS-C E-mount cameras the last week of August ?

You remember that in beginning of July I did post this rumor about the conflicting info I got about the new APS-C E-mount camera. You will see “Source 2” was spot on when he said a new High End Camera (not APS-C) and RX camera would be announced in July.

That very same source now told me this:

Sony will announce two new APS-C E-mount cameras in late August

And today a second source confirmed it:

Two APS-C E-mount cameras to be announced soon. The A6500 is EOL (End of life).

This rumors is ranked with SR4 which means there is a good 70% chance it’s correct.

So far I got no camera specs…but this is indeed a big surprise from Sony. Wouldn’t have expected to get two APS-C cameras at once!

The two APS-C cameras:

1) I expect the A6500 successor to be a sort of “cheaper” A9 version. I am not sure yet about the following info I got but someone told me the A6500 successor will more or less have the same A6500 design with a bigger grip to fit the new Sony NP-FZ100 battery.

2) I have no info about the second APS-C camera. My dream would be to finally get something that is very different. Not an A5100 successor but a more robust Fuji X-T3 alike camera. But rationally I know I will be disappointed :)

I heard about another announcement in September/October and there will be a third new Full Frame camera coming!

At the moment I am hiking in Mantet (Pyrenees). Just got a solid info about the two cameras Sony will announce in late August. Unlike the A7rIV launch this time I think we will know in time what’s coming :)
