As you know Sony said the As7II successor will have “everything new”. As a consequence of this I saw on the web some websites speculating about a completely new design of the camera. I now know of two people that saw and tested shortly the A7sII successor. While they can’t unveil the specs for obvious reasons they said that the camera design will not change dramatically and it looks pretty similar to a Sony A7rIV.

Rumored A7sII successor specs so far:

• Looks pretty similar to a Sony A7rIV.
• world’s highest resolution new 9.44 million dot EVF (QXGA resolution)
• passive (noise free) cooling system
• UHSII card support
• announcement late July

What Sony said about the As7II successor:

• announcement this summer
• will “exceed everyone’s expectations“.
• The ‘S’ originally stood for ‘sensitivity’ but now it should stand for ‘supreme’ in terms of image quality, and expression
• at least 4K/60p, 10-bit 4:2:2 but it will be more
• Raw video

Today at 15:00 London time Sony will announce the new 12-24mm f/2.8 GM lens. There will be no other lens or camera announced. And there will be no livestream. But plenty of youtubers and reviewers will post their take on that massive new lens that I have been told will be priced around $3,000!

No info yet about the price but I guess it will be $3000+??? The lens is rumored ot be announced tomorrow (July 7) at 15:00 London time.

UPDATE:  I now have been told the lens will be announced tomorrow (July 7) at 15:00 London time!

Note: I previously reported the lens will be announced on Friday but it might be that the source confused the preorder open time with launch time.

Back in February I told you Sony would announce this lens in summer and here it is!

I guess the likely Sony announcement roadmap is this:

1. Sony 12-24mm GM lens maybe to be announced next week?
2. Sony A7sII successor sometimes in late July
3. “mysterious” new kind of Full Frame E-mount camera in late August/early September

As you know the Panasonic S1H has a cooling vent avoid overheating (image on top). Well I now have been told the Sony A7sII successor will have a new kind of passive cooling system to avoid overheating. I guess it means there will be indeed NO noisy cooling vent. Also…as expected it has UHS-II card support.

I don’t even post this as a rumor because I got a proof (sorry I cannot share here) that this is true :) More over two other reliable sources confirmed it! This makes it officially the first spec we leak about the new Sony As7II successor:

It has the world’s highest resolution new 9.44 million dot EVF!!!

By comparison the new Canon EOS-R5 will have a 5 million EVF “Only”.

I shall get some more info soon!
