This patent shows the first images of the new Sony Drone camera!

Well I just found a brand newly published Sony patent describing a foldable drone camera. And it’s quite innovative as you will see:

The image below shows you the Drone folded:

You then detach the cover part which is actually a full touchscreen remote device!

The touchscreen device is used to fly the drone:

And obviously you can use the screen to zoom in and zoom out on the subject:

The camera also has the Sony famous “Eye-AF” function we all know from Sony Alpha cameras:

There is also a variation of the patent with a bigger drone:

There are no specs of any kind and no info about the Image Quality. But to me it makes a lot of sense for Sony to do this. They have the sensor technology, the autofocus technology and lens technology from the Alpha series. And why not use an E-mount on the drone similar to the DJI Zenmuse? That would be nice :)

(SR4) UPDATED: High End APS-C camera should be announced before Christmas time?

One trusted source gave us a posisble timeline of the next Sony announcement. He heard the new Sony High End APS-C camera will be announced within weeks. It’s unclear yet if that means it’s coming at PhotoPlus next week or if it will be announced sometimes in November. UPDATE: Seems like the source confused an official announcement with a in house Sony demonstration prio to the announcement. The camera will be released in every early 2019!

The following info is coming via reliable sources:

  • This is not an A6500 successor
  • This is a new kind of APS-C camera
  • The EVF is in the center
  • It’s a sort of “mini-A9”
  • It matches and in some aspects (like AF and IBIS) exceed the Fuji X-T3 performance
  • It has 20fps

Stay tuned folks and join the A6500-A7000 facebook group!

Stay tuned on SAR ;)

Still no 100% confirmation about a possible product announcement coming any time soon…

While I am confident the High End APS-C camera rumor is correct I still got no reliable confirmation about the possible announcement day. All I know is that this is the next camera Sony is likely to announce.

I only got anonymous tips and that means there is a statistically very high chance they are wrong. I am only posting them for your pleasure :)

Source 1.

Tomorrow (October 16th), Sony announces the FE 200-600mm f/5-6.3 G lens. Relatively light, priced 1499$. Note that it belongs in the G series, not GM. Sony also announces the development of 500mm f/4 and 600mm f/4 lenses. No other announcements for now.

Source 2:

New sony aps-c in the next few days:

I ask people who are “serious” sources to please use some kind of nickname so that I can recognize them when they send me future rumors and I can ranke them properly. Thanks!

Mr. Tanaka says it’s about time to announce new ASP-C Cameras!

For months now we are going on telling you Sony should announce a new High End APS-C camera as next. Well, a confirmation that indeed APS-C cameras will be announced soon is coming directly through the words of Sony manager Mr. Tanaka. In an interview released at Pronews.jp he said this:

元々Eマウントにはユーザーの入り口としてAPS-Cカメラのラインナップはありましたが、プロやハイアマチュアユーザーの多い弊社の既存ユーザーの要求としてまずはハイエンドを充実しなくてはならないということでしばらくお休みしていました。しかし、ハイエンドもこれだけ揃いましたので、そろそろいい時期かなと

In summary:

– The goal now was to focus on Full Frame cameras to satisfy the demand of the customers
– He said this goal has been achieved and it’s about time to focus on making APS-C cameras

Mr. Tanaka did obviously not hint about the timing about such a product announcement. All we know for sure now is that this is what we have to expect to be announced as next.

One more thing:

At Photokina Sony managers hinted that there might be a product announcement before the PhotoPlus show. One of the sources “indirectly” heard this could happen on October 16. But so far I wasn’t able to confirm this date. I hope to get more info the next 48 hours. But please keep in mind there is yet no solid rumor about that date.

What’s 85% confirmed is that Sony is ready to release a new High End APS-C E-mount camera. Just let’s hope it’s really coming at PhotoPlus!

This is the new Zeiss Otus 100mm f/1.4 lens

Zeiss claims the Otus line is the best lenses you can have on the market. And we will soon get a new addition with this new 100mm f/1.4. The first images have been leaked via Nokishita. There is yet no info about pricing and official release date. The lens does only come as native Canon EF and Nikon F mount option. But you use it on any E-mount camera via adapter.
