(SR4) Inevitable: New generation A7 cameras has touchscreen…and bugs :)

So far the only new generation E-mount camera with touchscreen is the Sony A6500

A source just sent me this:

New update that I would like to share with you SAR. The new A7 series coming includes touch screen controls. Next A7 is also coming in a few months as its still being optimized by the engineer and software department for issues like bugs, which they ran into recently.

It’s unconfirmed yet when the new A7 generation cameras will be announced. All we know for now is that Sony’s next press announcement is on April 23 and that Sony registered two cameras in Asia (but it may take til May/June before we see those).

Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki confirms their new FE lenses will have brand new optical designs!

.

Imaging Resource just published the full interview with Sigma CEO Kazuto Yamaki. And there is good news folks: He confirmed that their FE lenses are newly designed from scratch and not some current [shoplink 57129]Sigma DSLR lens[/shoplink] recycled as E-mount. This means the lens will be optimized for Sony High Resolution cameras and possibly smaller than their DSLR lenses :)

Here is what he exactly said about that:

It’s possible to make the native E-mount [lens] using the existing glass, but all of our existing lens is not designed for mirrorless. So when you’re designing [a new lens], you can’t easily take an existing lens design [from another mount] and put a little bit deeper mount on it, so that it’s at the right distance for the Sony flange-back distance.

I really can’t wait the day they will launch ART lenses for the FF E-mount! Check out their ART lenses at: [shopcountry 57129]. It’s all High Quality Glad for a relatively affordable price.

A while ago we asked our readers which lens Sigma should make first:

(SR1) A couple of crazy clickbait :) rumors about the RX1RIII and A7rIII

Before we move on to some more “serious” rumors I want to share this:
With such an important Sony announcement ahead, I obviously keep receiving some crazy or improbable rumors too.  It’s highly unlikely these rumors will become true…although from time to time it happens!  But let’s share some love for highly potential Clickbait Rumors :)

So this is what I got the last couple of days:

Source named “Zorro”:

“The Sony A7R MK3 will have a 63 megapixel sensor.
Sony will introduce a new flagship cine camera (still below the F65) with internal X-OCN raw recording in April 2017.”

——————————————-

Source named “St….”:

The new compact camera WW620081 is the RX1RM3.

Improvements:
– Faster operation
– 4k Video
– IBIS
– Improved finder (similar to Leica Q quality)

42 MP will remain the same.

——————————————-

Source named “D….”:

Sony will make a special camera for drones having 24mp BSI sensor

message for source: I am not testing you.  I got this via an anonymous message form  another source too!

New upcoming Sony FF E-mount camera has “around 20MP”

On April 23 Sony has a product announcement (FS5 successor coming for sure and probably a new High End E-mount camera too). And in that very moment I got this from the source who unveiled first the A6500 specs and 100mm STF lens info:

The new camera is probably around 20 MP.
Maybe not α7 series.

He also confirmed a while back that this is a high speed AF, high-speed continuous shooting, high ISO sensitivity. What we know from other sources is that it could have around 20fps, dual SD card, touchscreen, Joystick control, and A6500 menu system.

Sony to launch new 100 Megapixel and 150 Megapixel medium format sensors in 2018!

Sony published a new Sony sensor roadmap. And it contains first info about their new generation 100MP and 150MP medium Format sensors:

1) New 100MP 44x33mm Medium format Back Illuminated sensor would be announced in 2018 (for the kind of cameras like the Fuji GFX and X1D)
2) New 150MP 55x41mm Medium format Back Illuminated sensor would be announced in 2018 (for the kind of cameras like the Phase One 100XF).
3) New 150MP 55x41mm Medium format Back Illuminated monochrome sensor would be announced in 2018

About the new 100MP sensor made for Fuji and Hasselblad Sony writes:

There is no info about their Full Frame roadmap but the PDF file contains a lot of info on their industrials sensors. Some of that tech will find its way on FF sensors too I guess: http://www.sony-semicon.co.jp/products_en/news/detail/170301.pdf

My wel known stalking point to Sony:
I would recommend you using the large 55x41mm to launch a new medium format system camera.
