Zeiss Photographer Greg Watermann is now teasing the launch of the new Batis tele portrait prime lens. He just published a new image shot with the lens that he says will be “available this spring“. It’s still unclear when the lens will be announced but for sure it’s a matter of days…

Soon Greg Watermann will show us a set of new image samples shot on the Batis tele portrait prime lens. It’s important to know that the lens specs will NOT be unveiled today!
Zeiss posted this image shot by Greg Watermann with the new Batis tele portrait lens that will be announced within the next days. Zeiss also added a teaser text in the note:
“By the way, he has something new in his camera bag. Our new Batis portrait telelens. Stay tuned for more info.”
If you recall end of last year we got word about a new Batis 135mm tele lens. The lens should be the one you see on that Instagram picture (yeah I know not a lot to see there).

Help needed: Watch out for copycat sites! Zeiss posted this on Feb 22. I posted this today and you can bet copycat rumor sites will repost this today after reading it on SAR without crediting SAR for finding the image. If you find those sites please ask them to credit SAR. Thanks!

This is the first image of the new Batis tele portrait prime lens. I know it doens’t really show anything but I am 100% this is the new lens. Specs are still unconfirmed. But there is a fair chance the focal length is 135mm. The lens will be displayed at the upcoming Photography Show in Birmingham.
UPDATE: A new source (Thanks) said this is a 135mm f/2.8 lens. Let’s see if he is right on that one.

Hot news folks! Zeiss will soon (within days) announce a new Batis portrait tele lens! This is 100% reliable info!
We got no specs yet but previous rumors pointed towards a new 135mm lens. But still, that is yet not a verified rumor so take that focal length info with a grain of salt. Stay tuned on SAR. I hope to be able to gather some more info within the next hours…

I got multiple confirmation on my previously posted rumor. There will be a new E-mount lens from a third party company announced between at 6am London time.
UPDATE: A reliable source told me there will be a new lens announcement at around 5-7am London time (Feb 22). He said this is a lens for the Sony system but it’s not from Sony or Zeiss.
Just a guess: I know from another source that Venus Optics will disclose new details of their Laowa 15mm FE lens. But as I said, don’t know if the “Sony-related” announcement is about that lens.
Reminder: Sony is probably going to have an announcement the second half of March. But that rumor still has to be confirmed by our verified sources…stay tuned.
