A nice Christmas A-mount rumor :)

Today I got a rumor about the upcoming A-mount stuff:

Spoke with the head of Sony camera sales in “xxx” (Editor’s note: country name removed). He said 2016 is going to be a great year for A-mount and that it’s certainly not dead. E-mount won’t replace (and kill) it since there are things you can do with the longer flange distance in A mount that you can’t with E mount… Other than that I couldn’t get anything out of him….. Very tight lipped ;-)”

Would be a great start if by CES or CP+ we would finally get the A99II !

Reminder: Today Gold Box deal on the Sony A99 at Amazon Germany.

(SR5) The full Sony AS50 action camera specs

Actioncam

On January 5th Sony will livestream their CES product announcement. You can follow it live here on SAR. And what can we expect to get?

Our sources confirmed there will be a new Action Camera and new Handycameras. They also confirmed Sony is ready to launch a new A99 successor but it’s unconfirmed if that’s coming at CES or a month later at CP+.

But today I got the full AS50 action camera specs. So here they are:

-Same as usually Zeiss lens
-XAVC-S 50mbps codec
-FullHd recording 60p
-New menu with icons (much easier and faster to navigiate)
-Waterproof up to 60m with included case
-Batery compartement is similar to the one in az1, but as50 works with same batery as as20
-Bluetooth (to power on camera with the remote)
-Electronic zoom
-There will be new remote rm-lvr3 but will not be sold with as50 and will be relised later in 2016

(SR2) is the new 24-70mm FE GM lens a compact zoom?

also, the A9 body, which is higher than the A7rII does exist, but I’m not sure if sony want to release it or not

Still, this is a new source and rarely those kind of rumors become true. But I would certainly like to get a compact zoom for the A7 cameras. And you?

Sony A68 and A-mount in general will no more be sold in Taiwan.

I got this from a source:

“There was a email send by Sony Taiwan to some of their employees. It said that A68 will not be introduced in Taiwan due to decreasing demands of mid-level DSLR from the market.”

So after Australia and New Zealand also Taiwan will likely no more sell any A-mount stuff.

I guess Soy’s startegy now is to sell their new A-mount cameras only in “DSLR-friendly” markets.

(SR3) More hints about a new A99 successor…

Two more sources confirmed the next Sony High End Camera is the Sony A99 successor. It is yet not 100% confirmed if it will be announced at CES or at CP+. I have no info and specs about the A99 successor. So it’s not clear if it’s a High Megapixel camera or an A-mount camera without pellicle mirror or whatever. I do hope to get some info about the camera before the announcement comes. Let’s hope Sony will add some exciting features on the camera!

Reminder: Sony will have a press event on January 5th at the CES in Las Vegas. The US market is still very DSLR-centric and it certainly makes sense to announce a new A-mount High End Camera on that event.
