(SR5) Sony officially registered a new 24-70mm FE GM lens (f/2.8?)

Digicameinfo spotted an official Sony lens name registration in Russia. Sony named the lens “SEL2470 GM”. This is likely the first f/2.8 Full Frame E-mount zoom lens! And “GM” could define the new line of fast Sony zooms.

Usually once registered the new product will be announced within the next 6-8 weeks.

Sony already confirmed on previous interviews they are working on faster FE lenses.

(SR1) I really do not think this is the A6100 (or A7000)

large_A6100

Mirrorlesrumors posted that image of a supposed new A6100 (or A7000) camera. I’d say it’s 99% a fake. And so the specs they mention:

24.3 MP sensor (different from A6000)
Tri-navi control system
Mag. alloy body
1/32000 electronic shutter
4K Video (10 min limit)
No IBIS
No weather seal
Announcement in 2-3 weeks
Body only price is expected around 900 USD.

(SR3) Coming soon: APS-C E-mount camera with “new class in speed and low light capability”.

The last couple of days I got many rumors from different sources. It may be a sign that Sony is preparing a new product announcement in a couple of weeks! This is what I just got today:

I wantet to share that sony is preparing to anounce yet another new camera. best guess would be mid / late august or maybe IFA in Berlin. from what I garthered it will be an aps camera, so maybe the a7000? it is said that it will feature a new class in speed and low light capability.

Would be nice if Sony would at last announce a new APS-C camera! Not everyone can or will spend $3500 for the Sony A7rII!

A7rII preorder list:
In USA: at Amazon, BHphoto, AdoramaSonyStore US, FocusCamera, Uniquephoto.
In Europe at Sony DEUK, FR, IT, ES, NL, BE, CH, AT, SE, FI, NO, PT. Wex UK.
In Asia at Digitalrev, CameraPro.

(SR2) Sony A7sII will give up the classic A7 form and become more like a Canon CX10?

[shoplink 38993 ebay][/shoplink]

An anonymous source told me the A7sII is close to the release and it has one major surprise. It will have “a new body design similar to the [shoplink 38993 ebay]Canon XC10[/shoplink]”. Don’t know if people will like the A7sII to have a XC10 alike design. But after the A7rII release I guess it makes sense to create a new more advanced design for the A7s to differentiate it from the A7rII.

He also told me it has a “Handgrip similar to the FS7 (lanc controller) for use on shoulder rigs or jibs.“.

If the rumor turns out to be true would you be happy having a “bulkier” but probably more ergonomic style?

Speculation: Next 85mm f/1.4 G lens to be trimmed for bokeh like the Minolta STF lens?

[shoplink 38557 ebay][/shoplink]

The Sony 135mm f/2.8 STF lens[/shoplink] (image Photozone).

One source told us the next Sony 85mm f/1.4 FE lens will be trimmed for extreme bokeh. So let me speculate a bit: It may be possible that this will be the first Sony STF lens after the [shoplink 38557 ebay]135mm f/2.8 STF (here on eBay)[/shoplink].

Photozone explains well why this 135mm lens is so special:

The lens has a so-called apodisation optics using one APD element. APD elements resemble neutral density filters which become thicker the more you move towards the perimeter thus reducing the amount of light passing through. Out-of-focus circles are therefore (comparatively) defined in the center but are gradually loosing light towards the edges thus producing a very silky bokeh (out-of-focus blur) – the primary sense of existence of this lens.

as a result

The [shoplink 38557 ebay]Sony 135mm f/2.8 [T/4.5] STF[/shoplink] is the ultimate cream machine. Regarding the quality of its bokeh (out-of-focus blur) it outclasses all other lenses tested to date so if this is a #1 priority for you just bow to the inevitable and go for it to enjoy images as smooth as silk. That said it doesn’t stop here. The lens is extremely sharp even at max. aperture and neither vignetting, distortion nor lateral CAs are something to worry about in field conditions.

Sounds great…and expensive(!) if Sony will really make such a lens…
