(SR3) NEX-FF could be priced below $3,000. Has Olympus 5 axis stabilization.

As I told you yesterday I am working on many exciting rumors. A-mount mirrorless, new NEX cameras and the new soon to be launched NEX-FF system. And keep inviting you to subscribe the RSS feed (Click here) and Twitter (Click here) stream and the Facebook fan page (Click here). It’s the best way to not miss any of the many(!) rumors to come.

A short note first: Sony is obviously trying to keep a tight secret and I also suspect that they intentionally spread some wrong info to hide the truth. That’s why I ask all sources to be patient. They will not see me post the rumor they send on the same day or week. I will always try to double check them first.

NEX-FF:
I got multiple confirmation Sony is ready to launch the NEX-FF. I have been told of different prototypes that have been tested. For now what I can share with you are two good news I got from one of the sources (hope more sources confirm it soon so that I can upgrade this to SR5):

1) The final price still has not been set yet but the chance is high that the NEX-FF photocamera body will be priced just below the $3,000 mark. Similar to the A99 and way below the only real competitor on market (The Leica M for $7,000).

2) The NEX-FF will feature the Olympus 5 axis stabilization! I still have a hard time to figure out how it was possible to add this on the NEX-FF. Anyway, you probably know that Olympus IBIS is the best on market (and used by the Olympus E-M5). Now imagine all M lenses, FD lenses and all other lenses you can use on the NEX-FF will be stabilized! A dream comes true.

As usual keep your feet on ground till I can upgrade the rumor to SR5. Stay tuned on SAR. More amazing rumors to come soon…

A note for Leica owners: Obviously I was joking when telling you yesterday that the NEX-FF will kill Leica. Leica still has a unique rangefinder system and build quality. Plus I don’t know how good the Leica M lenses will perform on the new NEX-FF. Leica will continue to exists but they are no more really alone on this world :)

Write articles for SonyAlphaRumors!

Share

From late July until mid August I will be on vacation to my girlfriends family in France. But bad for me (and good for you) this will be a very busy rumor time with plenty of leaks to come. But between one rumor and another I will try to get some rest and enjoy some time with my family and friends by tasting the mysterious red drink the Frenchman call “vin” :)

And I thought it could be an idea to schedule some articles written by SAR readers so that they can be posted on SAR while I am lying under the sun. So you feel free to send me your articles you want to be posted here at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Please send full text and pictures and the credit you want me to add. You are obviously allowed to link back to your personal blog and it may help some of you to become famous :)

So what kind of article are welcome on SAR? First of all want I don’t need are reviews of cameras and lenses that are already well know and out for a long time. I am more interested in real field work narrations (travel stories, fashion photography, extreme conditions reportages). I also like to read curious and funny stories. Small tips and tricks reports are also welcome. In short, stories that usually don’t get posted on classic photography review sites :)

One more idea to save me time: Use DealsRunner.com to submit the SOny deals you find on web. Doing so displays the deals on the right sidebar on SAR and you will help other readers to see and grab the deal. It works without my moderation..instantaneously!

This may turn out to be a good deal for us, I can get some couple of hours per day offline and you can promote yourself. Thanks you!

(SR3) NEX-FF is the first E-mount camera with on sensor image stabilization?

Share

Small update on the NEX-FF photocamera rumor:

Now we have three sources saying that Sony scheduled a big event for autumn. And the chance is high that we are talking about an official High Quality NEX-FF camera release. I am still working on the camera specs and first Zeiss lens info. What I also “heard” is that the first Sony NEX-FF photocamera will also feature an on sensor stabilization. This would be the first NEX camera featuring that. And honestly I dind’t think that IBIS would be possible on a FF E-mount. Anyway, while these rumors are coming from good sources I still advice you to keep feet on ground. We all need to see a clear evidence to be sure of the announcement. The best one would be an image of the camera….you have one to share? :)

Personal note: Terrific rumors to come :)

Share

I know I am doing a mistake by writing that post…but what the heck! I am human and not a rational robot!

I am working all the day now and I can tell you that signs are huge that Sony prepared something terrific. This is the most exciting time I ever had on SAR. I strongly suggest you to follow me on Twitter (Click here) and Facebook fan page (Click here). It’s the place where I can express more tidbits and emotions about my work. Stay tuned on SAR. As usual I am trying to triple check the info I get otherwise you will kill me if that rumor turns out to be wrong :)

Juts one sentence: Neither Canon nor Nikon have this. And Leica is dead :)

(SR4) Two new Zeiss lenses coming along the new NEX-FF photocamera.

Share

It’s only a matter of time until the  first NEX-FF photocamera will be announced. I should receive more bits about the exact announcement period soon. In the meantime I have been told by a trusted source that along the first NEX-FF camera you will see the announcement of two new Zeiss FulL Frame and E-mount lenses. One will be a zoom and the other one a prime lens. And important…everything will be expensive :(

The NEX-FF definitely has on sensor PDAF. I am now working to get full reliable specs but the chance is high we are talking about a very compact camera with 30+ Megapixel sensor. Stay tuned on SAR! More coming soon!

Specs of the Zeiss lenses are unknown but Zeiss has a great history of FF lenses made for the “Full Frame” ZM analog camera:

Sony US extends SLT offer “while supplies last.”

Share

Sony US is clearly trying to clear their Stock of SLT cameras. They just extended the SLT offer running at Amazon US (Click here)while supplies last“. New A-mount cameras are expected to hit the stores in very early 2014. It’s till unclear yet if the new A-mount cameras will be announced and available for preorder in autumn.

To sources and readers: I keep receiving rumors about many new cameras and lenses. Please excuse me if it takes time to post everything. I always try to at least double check the rumors to avoid major mistakes. The rumors I am working on are:

1) NEX-FF release date and lens specs
2) APS-C lens cameras and lenses
3) A77 mirrorless successor specs
4) A-mount Full Frame camera specs (two cameras!)
5) Hybrid A-E mount
6) New RX cameras

On all these fronts I got specs and info. But I learned from the past that some of them may not be correct (for different reasons). So be patient. I am doing my best every day now!

P.s.: particularly the NEX-FF rumors I am getting sound ground breaking!…and expensive :(

Fotodiox will make a new Vizelex adapter.

Share

As you may know Fotodiox launched the Vizelex Cannon Nikon G to E-mount adapter which is in Stock at Amazon US (Click here). But from first testings at personal-view we know that the quality is inferior compared to the (more expensive) Metabones.

The company reacted on the critics and announced on Personal-View that they are working on a new version:

Thank you to everyone that bought the Light Cannon. Fotodiox Pro realizes there are issues with the optical quality of the results, and is working hard to fix the problem.
If you are unhappy with the Light Cannon you may return the merchandise for refund of the product cost or exchange, if the return is made within 14 days of receipt. Refunds will exclude any return shipping charges.
However, if you decide to keep this first generation product, you will have the opportunity to receive the Light Cannon Mark II for FREE, when it becomes available in 3 to 4 months. The Mark II will address the optical quality of the glass with an upgraded optical element. The optical element will be completely redesigned to correct the color shift and to keep sharp focus across the image. There will be two versions of the Mark II: 0.5x (created for full-frame lens to open the aperture up 2 extra stops) and 0.7x (created for APS-C Sensors which will open the aperture up 1 more stop). As a Fotodiox Pro customer that tried our first version of the Light Cannon you will get your choice between the two. With the higher quality optics, the Mark II will retail around $199.95, but the optical quality will be better. In order to get the free Mark II, please contact info@fotodiox.com to request the code for a free Light Cannon Mark II when it becomes available for purchase. Please include your name, email, what website you ordered from, and your order number so we can reference your order. Thank you for your continued support for Fotodiox Pro.

More adapter news:
The High Quality (and more expensive) Metabones Speed Booster are now for sale via BHphoto too. And next month the new A to E-mount Speed Booster will be released!

Like the Vizelex also Chinese companies are selling a cheaper Speed Booster clone named “Lens Turbo”:
