A7-A7r teaser at Sony Japan. More rumor tidbits…

Important note: The camera shown on the teaser is not the A7/A7r!!!! It’s just to show that the DSLR world will be wiped away by the new FF E-mount cameras…lol :)

Many were so focused on the leaked A/ image that they missed to read my link to the Sony Japan teaser (Click here) and Sony China (Click here). The Sony Japan teaser says something like: “After we threw away a fixed idea of cameras (What cameras should be.), we can now see a new possibilities of the cameras.“…”The camera which no one has ever invented, new alpha, will be coming soon“. And the announcement date is (as rumored) this Wednesday October 16. be sure to be online on SonyAlphaRumors at around 5-6 am London time to follow the event live!

I got more tibits from anonymous sources (I guess most of what they write is right but I would not rank it as SR5 for now):
Source_1: The A7 and A7r do use the same E-M1 viewfinder which means 2,4million dots and a very high level of accuracy and no lag.
Source_2: A7/A7r will be using SD cards and NEX battery. Grip bigger than the current NEX 7 dunno good or bad. 7R to be more solid than 7 if you have hold them both not by looking at it from visual. U wont be able to add on shutter release accessories like the RX1 because it does not have the screw on

Thanks to all sources for your great help! We still don’t have the full camera specs. If you want you can share them via the anonymous contact form on the right border of this site or send me a message at sonyalpharumors@gmail.com. Thanks again!

Note: There are many fake images on the web. if I do not post them here it is because there are fakes. I will post only real images (if I see them on www).

(SR5) First low resolution image of the Sony A7 mirrorles Full Frame!

This is the first image from the new Sony A7 mirrorless E-mount Full Frame camera! It’s a low-resolution image but 100% real. All sources that saw the camera say that the A7-A7r cameras are built like a Tank. They also were surprised by the design but almost all of them will end buying it because they quite liked the camera after a couple of minutes of testing and holding :)

Most of my sources do believe that these are game changing cameras. And yes, the lens offering is very limited (and expensive) but Sony plans to introduce many more lenses during the next 12 months.

The A7 24MP and A7r 36MP cameras will be announced this week on October 16. Be sure to be online at 5-6 am London time on SonyAlphaRumors.com. I will follow the event live and link you continually to first tests, reviews, image samples, videos and preorder links (so that you can be the first to get the cameras).

One more thing: I still have no video specs but I have been told that the cameras are very good in video and have some improved features.

UPDATE: There is a teaser from Sony Japan for a camera launch on October 16. It says: “We stopped thinking about the way that the camera should be, then we started to see a new way of the camera. A camera, no one ever made
Some more rumor tidbits I got today:

1) On Boards.4chan.org someone reported this: “Just got info from a source. Launching with crappy 28-70 non 2.8 lens. AU1999 and AU2499 body only. 3 prime lenses to be released later. Heres the kicker. Initial promo offers a free mount adaptor for either Canon, Nikon or Leica. Personally i think the camera looks kinda ugly, but im sure it will ahake up the market.

2) Nuno sent me an email message from a drones company in new Zealand: “In Dec 2013.  Sony will be releasing a Full Frame NEX Series Camera at 40 Megapixels.  Hawkeye uses Sony direct to conduct modifications of NEX series sensors to reduce weight, reduce battery consumption and direct triggering from our autopilot.

Curiosity: 63% of you didn’t like the design of the camera when they saw that sketch. Even if the leaked image is of low resolution I already heard that people likes it more now. So let’s make the question again:

Would you buy the 50mm f/1.2 GM lens?

(SR5) Surprise: RX10 has 1 inch sensor (no APS-C!) and 24-200mm f/2.8 zoom

The RX100 1 inch sensor

Answer that question: If the RX100 series has an 1 inch sensor and the RX1 series has a Full Frame sensor. What kind of sensor size should a new RX10 series have? 99,9% of SAR readers would answer: APS-C!

But here comes the famous Sony name confusion factor: After naming the NEX E-mount cameras ….Alpha (A300, A7 and A7r), the new RX10 camera will get the same 1 inch sensor of the RX100 series! Multiple trusted sources confirmed the RX10 will have an one inch sensor and a fixed 24-200mm f/2.8 lens! Don’t misunderstand me, this sounds like an amazing camera! A 24-200mm f/2.8 compact zoom on such a large sensor is an astonishing achievement. But they should have just named it RX200 :)

UPDATE: I got some answer to your questions:
– Size is about same as the Sony HX300 for example.
– Lens does not collapse.
– there is an aperture ring that can be selected to be “smooth” or with “clicking steps”.
– The lens has a f/2.8 aperture through the full focal range!!!

24mm lenses for your A7 and A7r

The NEX-VG900 camera and the lenses. Image courtesy David.

With only two 35mm and 55mm primes coming with the A7 and A7r these are some possible third party lens options for the 24mm focal length. I would be glad if you could share test and impression of these lenses used on a Leica or Sony Vg900 camera. It could be useful for all future A7/A7r camera owners. Thanks!

The list contains lenses deisgned for a mirrorles ssystem (not for DSLR systems):. This because I guess size matters if you buy the A7 :)
