UPDATE: Dutch tech site lists the Sony A7000 with specs as a “place holder”

The dutch tech site Tweakers now lists the Sony A7000 in their database. I think this is very likely to be a placeholder only. UPDATE: Yes it’s just a place holder. The shared specs are just a guess

This is the $1599 Canon EOS-RP Full Frame mirrorless. How will be Sony’s answer?

The rumor I posted last week turned out to be true: Canon is going to launch a new $1599 Canon EOS-RP Full Frame mirrorless camera. This begs the question if Sony will answer with a new lower end model FF camera launch. Or maybe they will just cut the A7III price.

Here are the full Canon EOS-RP leaked images and specs via Nokishita:

Unreported by Nokishita is the announcement date which will be around February 14 (Source CanonWatch).

I think it’s great both Canon and Nikon will announce new gear this month. Sony will have to answer swiftly with new lens and camera releases if they want to steal some headlines from the competition!

(SR5) Samyang will launch a new 85mm f/1.4 FE lens within 1-2 months!

Our sources just told us Samyang will soon launch a new 85mm f/1.4 FE autofocus lens. This lens will be very similar to the Canon EF version already on sale today. The one big news is that the new 85mm f/1.4 FE lens should have faster autofocus performance than all current Samyang FE lenses.

We have no exact launch date yet but it’s set to be announced within end of March.

Competition news: Canon will launch five RF lenses on Feb 14. Including a new 85mm f/1.2

On February 14 Canon will launch five new RF lenses:

RF15-35mm F2.8L IS USM
RF24-70mm F2.8L IS USM
RF70-200mm F2.8L IS USM
RF24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM
RF85mm F1.2L USM

Canon is rapidly trying to catch up with the Sony FE lens lineup. All five lenses are spot on and highly desirable. And I do think Sony has to launch a f/1.2 autofocus lens lineup too. Just recently Sony stated that while f/1.0 or faster lenses would not make sense they are considering making f/1.2 af lenses.

Sony is rumored ot have an E-mount lens announcement before the start of the WPPI and CP+ shows in late February!

Here are the images of the other four lenses:
