One of our top sources sent us those images of the two new Sigma ART prime lenses (Click on the thumbnail to see the full size version). And he also shared three more info:

1) Those lenses will not be available for A-mount. Nor does Sigma plan to release them in A-mount sometimes later
2) Those lenses do work fine with the MC-11 adapter on E-mount cameras
3) He also said “don’t worry SAR folks”, some BIG Sigma FE news is expecting you in not so far distant time. Patience folks…patience! :)

The four lenses to be announced soon are:

• 14mm F1.8 DG HSM | Art
• 24-70mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | Art
• 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | Contemporary

None of these lenses will be available for A-mount yet but you can use them on E-mount cameras with the MC-11 adapter. And it’s 100% certain Sigma will make native E-mount lenses in the near future. But I dont know yet if these lenses will be based on exisiting lenses or on completely new design for the E-mount cameras.

So our rumors were right and Sigma will announce the 14mm and 135mm prime lenses along two more zoom lenses

The 15mm Laowa (DSLRmagazine)

I just got this from an anonymous source:

Venus Optics (Laowa) FE 15mm F2 will be ready soon.  Prototypes are being field-tested and will be shown on CP+.

The lens was announced at Photokina but full specs and pricing will be announced at Cp+

The current Laowa E-mount lenses in the line up are:
Venus Optics Laowa 12mm f/2.8 Zero-D Lens for Sony E at [shopcountry 55644].
Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4 Macro Lens for Sony E at [shopcountry 55646].
Venus Optics Laowa 105mm f/2 Smooth Trans Focus Lens for Sony E at [shopcountry 55645].

I just got this from a source who shared three correct rumors in the past:

“a9 is not a high megapixel camera.
The number of pixels is saved, it will become a camera with high speed AF, high-speed continuous shooting, high ISO sensitivity.”

Another source also told me that Sony plans to release different version of that new camera line. So maybe there will be a High megapixel version too sometimes later.

I can also confirm the camera has dual card slot…very likekly XQD and not SD. Announcement time is still unconfirmed but my guts tell me it could be announced within 1-2 months (I repeat, that’s not a rumor but just a feeling).

While the “A9” name is yet not confirmed all we know is that the camera is placed above the current A7 line. We posted the first SR5 ranked rumor back in April 2016. I got two messages from two new sources. I am posting this in the hope trusted sources can confirm it:

Both new sources said Sony is planning a major announcement for the second half of March. They both added that there will be a new Sony camera (but they don’t know yet what it is).

It could be that Sony will show their new camera on March 18 at the Photography Show in Birmingham. But knowing Sony it could also be that they will announce it after the show by very end March. Anyway hope to hear back from my trusted sources soon to confirm this. So for now this is ranked SR3 only (50% chance it’s true).

What could we eventually expect to get from Sony? High on the list is the new 16-35mm F/2.8 GM. Still not sure if it’s the right time for the new High End E-mount camera release with dual card slot and bugger than A7 body.

Cinema5D interviewed a Fuji manager whom confirmed that the next generation 44x33mm Sony sensor will likely have 100+ Megapixel and 4K video recording support. So while the next generation Full Frame sensor could have around 70 Megapixel the 44x33mm medium format sensor will have 30% higher resolution compared to FF.
