Claus Pfeifer from Sony says the A7sII successor will be “a great camera”

At minute 2:50 Claus Pfeifer from Sony said:

Sony a7s iii or whatever the camera will be called is going to be a great camera that will be out sometime in the future

To sum up the little we know so far:

  • A7sII successor might be announced in late August or early September before the IBC show. It’s not excluded that Sony might give us some teaser months before the launch
  • A7sII successor will at elast record 4k60p and 10bit 4:2:2
  • As7III successor is rumored to record 4k120p toohttps://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/french-website-leakes-the-first-canon-eos-5r-images/

A suggestion for Sony: Why not start a teaser campaign to keep us on the loop? Tonight Canon will do exactly that! They will announce the development of the EOS-R5 8K camera with IBIS. You can already see the images and some info on MirrorlessRumors.com

And the new Sony wide angle prime lens is….drumming….

Stay tuned….and remind it…we posted the lens info FIRST! And no other website ever got this :)

Moreover, we are making some progress on the A7IV, A7sIV launch time rumors…

CONFIRMED by Nokishita: Sony will announce a new lens soon!

image on top shows the current hood for the 35mm lens

Nokishita spotted the registration of a new Sony lens hood with the code “ALC-SH162″. This is the first direct confirmation that Sony will announce a new lens soon. As I told you before this will be a “Fast Wide Angle Prime Lens

I also want to debunking a rumor: This is NOT a 18mm f/1.8 GM lens. Of that Iam 100% sure.

Tamron says there is a short 70-180mm production delay…

A source sent me a couple of info about Tamron:

Tamron mentioned that they will only be making mirrorless lenses from now on! I asked if they meant like Canon, but they said that they’re all in on mirrorless and fully committed (unlike Canon).
Tamron also mentioned that some of the previously rumored lenses had their release dates delayed, so we’re getting less lenses than expected. They also expected the 70-180 to be finished by now, so that’s been delayed.

We are likely to get some info about the exact lens price and availability around the CP+ show start on February 27.

Sigma confirms the 70-200mm f/2.8 FE lens is coming soon!

In this interview Sigma CEO Yamaki was asked about the 70-200mm f/2.8 FE lens (minute 4:30 on the video below). And he clearly stated this is a lens “needed” in the mirrorless world. Which means it’s coming soon as I rumored many times here on SAR. So please, it’s time to prepare your wallets :)

Yamaki also said they are considering making Anamorphic Cine lenses:

RUMOR: Sony will announce a new fast wide angle PRIME lens on February 25 !!!

UPDATED speculative Sony release roadmap

Two reliable sources told us Sony will definitely announce a “Fast Wide Angle Prime Lens” on February 25. Please note that they didn’t share their time zone so I don’t know if it’s Feb 26 in some other countries.

I have no info yet if this is a 21mm f/1.4 lens or some other focal length. Let me know what you hope this will be:

I hope it's...

Tamron says it will launch THREE new lenses this year!

Tamron released their full financial report. And within the document they discloses they plan to launch THREE new lenses for mirrorless in 2020 beside the 20mm FE and 70-180mm FE. No specs have been shared but we can safely assume those are FE lenses (also because my sources tole me “many” FE lenses will be announced this year). Tamron is quite confident those lenses will sell well:

“With newly launched mirrorless models, the sales of own-brand models is expected to increase the sales compare to the previous year”

Moreover they report:

the backorders on the 17-28mm f/2.8 RXD (A046) are expected to be cleared by the end of this month

This means they might be ready to start the 70-180mm f/2.8 FE lens production. The lens pricing (and preorder) is likely to be announced on February 27.

So what are the three lenses you wish to get from Tamron? Drop your ideas in the comment system!
